Here's a great site on the next victim support that I think has possibilities
to be as helpful as DNA testing!
They use the brain scan pictures to demonstrate that a person is recalling an "actual memory" rather than a confabulated one (OK lie). They have found true re-call or and honest memory -- looks much different in scans than any that is made up somehow.

They are Now working with the FBI and all sorts of counter terror people. Some courts in Iowa have allowed this as "supporting evidence" for some unfairly accused people in a test case. Obviously, this would work even better as "back up evidence" in a good prosecution. They are actively seeking a victim who would like to use this in court as supportive evidence.
They way it works is that a small amount of glucose solution (sugar solution in normal talk) is tagged with a radio isotope, and is then injected into a person. As it circulates through the body, it is metabolized in the brain. The head is then scanned in a positronic emission scanner -- called a P.E.T. scan in medical shorthand. Depending on what part of the brain is being used, the brain scan will look different. What they have found in years of research is that brain scans of people having honest re-call are markedly different from those of people confabulating a story.
Thus it becomes a wonderful way to evaluate the honesty of recall in people.
I think that like DNA testing, this in the long run this is really going to help victims, particularly those involved in the "he said/she said" types of cases that take place in private, like harassment, rape, and domestic violence.
